Overview

Ekorian's Mugie Camp is a small, family-owned tented camp in the Mugie Conservancy. The camp is perfect for those looking for a private intimate safari experience; it has an exclusive location in North-west Laikipia, where game and bird life viewing are prolific.

Experiences here span beyond just a safari. Ekorian greets you with a warm, genuine welcome to this exquisite slice of the natural world. It brings to life the vision that Josh and Donna had when they built the camp: a retreat from the fast-paced hustle and bustle of the 'real world', and a reconnection with nature.

Ekorian's Mugie Camp fuses luxury with sustainability, and comfort with responsibility. Being in a private conservancy, guests have the freedom to observe and experience this wonderful part of Kenya through a range of activities. Whether you are in a game drive car, a kayak, on foot, or sleeping under the stars, you can actively experience all that Mugie has to offer.

Accommodation at Ekorian's Mugie Camp

Guest accommodation at Ekorian’s Mugie consists of six tents, set up in a long line to one side of the communal tent. There’s lots of space between them, so each feels very private. They are made out of the same materials as the main structure, blending beautifully with the trees around the site. Four tents are designed to sleep a maximum of two adults, while two are intended for a family, with an annexe that can sleep up to three children (under 12 years old). All are super-roomy and comfortably furnished. Every standard tent includes a double bed or twin bed, bedside tables and lighting, a writing desk and chair, and ample storage. There are snug rugs on the floor, and curtains to keep out the sun if need be.

The communal structure comprises a large canvas tent, positioned under papyrus roofing and benefiting from a spacious deck. A few steps lead up into the lounge area, which has plenty of comfy seating around coffee tables, as well as a few occasional tables and an amazing view! The palette is an interesting mix of maroon, earth tones, and wildlife prints. At the opposite end of the space is the dining area, featuring a large table and upright chairs. The deck is sufficiently spacious to accommodate additional dining and lounging furniture, in addition to the property’s swimming pool. The pool uses fresh water and is free from chemicals – and it overlooks a busy watering hole, so while you take a dip you can watch the local wildlife enjoying a drink! The camp has a fire pit too.

Food & Dining

The food at Ekorian’s Mugie Camp is equally good, the kitchen staff trained up, overseen and led by an excellent chef, the cuisine described by many as both homely and delicious. Breakfast, hot or cold, bush picnic, afternoon tea and a three-course evening meal – all are a delight. In an especially nice gesture, guests are welcome to use the host’s Wi-Fi if and when needed.
