Tanzania
Every lodge, camp and resort we recommend across Tanzania, organised by region and budget, each one vetted by a team that has stayed in it ourselves
Tanzania’s accommodation spans genuinely different decisions depending on where you’re headed: mobile camps that follow the Great Migration through the Serengeti, a choice between the Ngorongoro Crater rim and the town of Karatu below it, and a coastline where the tides alone determine which beach actually suits you. None of these are simple “best hotel” questions, each has a real, specific answer worth understanding before you book.
Below, we’ve organised our recommendations by region, since that’s how Tanzania actually plans out. Every property listed has been visited by our team directly, not sourced from a booking platform.

The Serengeti’s accommodation splits cleanly into three tiers, and the difference isn’t just comfort. Budget camps put you close to the same wildlife at a fraction of the cost, standard lodges add reliable comfort without full luxury pricing, and luxury camps, particularly mobile ones, actually reposition through the year to follow the migration itself, something no permanent lodge can do.
Ngorongoro comes down to one choice: the crater rim, for early access and sunrise views, or Karatu town, for genuine value and extras like coffee tours and horseback riding. Tarangire, often treated as a rushed stopover, rewards a full two days with the highest elephant density in the country and far fewer vehicles than its more famous neighbours
Zanzibar’s north coast, Nungwi and Kendwa, stays swimmable nearly all day; the east coast, Paje, Jambiani and Matemwe, trades that for dramatic tidal flats suited to kitesurfing, quiet walks and reef diving. Stone Town adds a genuinely different, cultural stop to either. Pairing several days in the Serengeti or Ngorongoro with a stretch on the coast remains the most common way to close out a longer Tanzania trip

We break Tanzania down the way travellers actually plan, by where you're going and what tier fits.
Every stay we arrange is built around your own itinerary, not a fixed group schedule.
That access means better rates and more current availability than a booking platform can offer.
