Collection of Wildlife Safaris
Private wildlife safaris across Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda, tracking the Big Five and the Great Migration with guides who read this landscape for a living.
Explore SafarisA truly unforgettable wildlife safari is built upon the principles of timing and access. This involves understanding the dynamic locations of animal herds, selecting conservancies that provide tranquil game drives away from the crowds, and collaborating with an experienced guide who possesses an innate ability to detect subtle shifts in the environment that hint at animal movement. With over 13 years of experience in crafting bespoke safaris, we have meticulously woven this vital expertise into every itinerary we design.
Each safari we coordinate is exclusively private, ensuring that you and your companions have your own dedicated vehicle and guide. This customised arrangement allows you to explore at a pace that resonates with your personal interests, liberating you from the constraints of a preset group schedule. Whether your goal is to witness the awe-inspiring Great Migration as vast herds navigate the treacherous waters of the Mara River, or to venture deep into the verdant underbrush of Bwindi in pursuit of the magnificent mountain gorillas, we curate each itinerary with your unique preferences at the forefront. Every detail is tailored to create an immersive and enriching experience that captivates your senses and satisfies your adventurous spirit.
Kenya’s Maasai Mara and Amboseli hold some of the highest concentrations of Big Five wildlife anywhere on the continent, with the Mara River crossings drawing travellers from across the world during migration season. Tanzania’s Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater work as a pair: the Serengeti’s open plains for the migration itself, the Crater’s contained ecosystem for a near-guaranteed sighting of all five species in a single day.
Uganda’s Queen Elizabeth National Park and Bwindi Impenetrable Forest bring tree-climbing lions and mountain gorilla trekking into the same itinerary. Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park does the same for gorillas with fewer flights, alongside golden monkey tracking in the surrounding bamboo forest.
The Great Migration moves on its own calendar, not a fixed one, but June through October is when the herds are typically concentrated around the Mara River in Kenya, and the dry season across both countries brings animals to permanent water sources, which makes for easier viewing regardless of the migration’s exact position.
January through March is calving season on the Serengeti’s southern plains, when newborn wildebeest and zebra draw in the predators that follow them. Gorilla trekking in Uganda and Rwanda is available year-round, with June to September and December to February offering drier, easier trails through the forest.
Game drives in a private vehicle remain the foundation of any wildlife safari, but they are rarely the whole itinerary. Depending on the destination, we build in:
Every activity is optional. Some travellers want six game drives a day; others want two, with the rest of the day left open
We only recommend lodges and camps we have stayed in ourselves, most with private decks or viewing platforms overlooking a waterhole or river where wildlife comes to you between drives. For travellers who want full privacy, we arrange exclusive-use villas and camps with dedicated staff and a private vehicle for the length of the stay.
Every property on our list meets the same standard regardless of budget: experienced guides, proper safety protocols, and genuine comfort after a long day in the vehicle.
East Africa’s wildlife is not limited to open grassland. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in Uganda protects roughly half the world’s remaining mountain gorillas inside dense rainforest, and trekking to a habituated family is unlike anything else on a standard safari itinerary. Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park offers the same experience with shorter transfer times from Kigali.
Tanzania’s Ngorongoro Crater is its own ecosystem: a volcanic caldera holding one of the highest densities of wildlife anywhere in Africa, including some of the last black rhino populations in the region. These landscapes reward travellers who want their safari to include more than the plains everyone pictures first.
George Nchau's team stays in contact with guides across the region, so your itinerary reflects where the herds actually are this week, not where they were last season.
Every wildlife safari we run uses your own vehicle and guide. No joining a departure with strangers, no group pace to accommodate.
Our relationships with conservancies and community-run reserves put you in places most group tours never reach
We only recommend properties we have stayed in ourselves, chosen for their access to wildlife, not just their amenities.
