About us

At Kwezi Safaris,
Every Journey Is Personal

At Kwezi Safaris, we specialise in private, tailor-made safaris across Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, and Zanzibar. Founded by George Nchau (a licensed guide with over 20 years in the field), Kwezi Safaris was built on a single conviction: that the best safari is one designed specifically for the people on it, not a template adapted to fit them.

We do not run shared vehicles, join departures, or off-the-shelf itineraries. Every journey begins with a conversation. George’s team listens to where you want to go, what you want to see, how you want to travel, and what your budget allows, then designs an itinerary that answers all of it honestly. That means telling you when a cheaper camp is the right choice and when it isn’t. It means recommending fewer nights at a place if three days will serve you better than five. It means giving you the real picture.

Over 13 years, we have built a portfolio of private safaris across East Africa’s most celebrated ecosystems, the Masai Mara, the Serengeti, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Volcanoes National Park, and the Zanzibar Archipelago, as well as corners of the continent most operators never take their guests to. We are Travelife Partners and members of Eco-Tourism Kenya. We hold a full Kenya Tourism Regulatory Authority license. These are not logos on a webpage. They reflect how we actually operate.

If you want to plan a safari with people who are honest with you, know the land personally, and will still be here if something needs fixing mid-trip, we would like to talk.

The people behind your safari

Meet the Team

Every itinerary is built by people who have spent years in the field. These are the guides, consultants, and specialists who will design and lead your journey.

Kwezi Safaris Top Safari Guide

The Ruler

George Nchau

Director & Lead Guide

George Nchau founded Kwezi Safaris in 2013 after more than a decade leading private safaris across Kenya’s national parks and conservancies. Licensed and with over 20 years in the field, George has guided guests through the Great Migration, tracked the Big Five in Laikipia, and navigated the northern frontier reserves that most safari operators never reach. He personally reviews every itinerary Kwezi builds, not as a sign-off, but as a guide who knows the difference between a route that works on paper and one that delivers in the field. When you plan a safari with Kwezi, you are planning it with someone who has been in that landscape this season.

Kwezi Safaris Staff

Story Teller

Victor Mutua

Digital Marketing & Brand Lead

Victor leads Kwezi’s digital presence, SEO strategy, and brand communications. Over the past decade he has built a deep understanding of how high-value international travellers research and choose safari operators, and he applies that knowledge to how Kwezi presents itself online. His work sits at the intersection of digital marketing and a genuine passion for East African wildlife and ecosystems. He is the reason you found this page.

One of Kwezi Safaris top safari guides in Tanzania, Laban

Dream Weaver

Laban Swai

Tanzania & Serengeti Specialist

Laban Swai is Kwezi’s Tanzania operations lead. He has guided the Serengeti’s northern and southern circuits, the Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire, and Lake Manyara across multiple seasons, which means he knows which camps position you correctly for the Migration in any given month, where the elephant concentrations are in the dry season, and which lesser-visited areas offer exceptional wildlife without the vehicle density of the main circuits. If your itinerary crosses the Tanzania border, Laban has either been there recently or knows someone who has.

Diana a top guide in kwezi safaris

Adventure Architect

Diana Muimi

Travel Consultant

Diana Muimi is the first person most Kwezi guests speak to. As the team’s travel consultant, she handles initial enquiries, asks the questions that shape a good itinerary, and manages client communication through the planning process. Diana brings a personal attention to each enquiry that larger operators cannot match; she reads every submission, responds personally, and will tell you if your dates don’t align with what you’re hoping to see. Her goal is not to close a booking; it is to make sure what you book is actually right for you.

Kwezi Safari Travel Specialist, Paul Kimiri

Travel Alchemist

Paul Kimiri

Eco & Cultural Consultant โ€” Spanish Market

Paul Kimiri specialises in off-the-beaten-track and eco-conscious safari design. Multilingual, with particular expertise serving Spanish-speaking clients,ย Paul is the guide who takes guests to the corners of East Africa that most operators never include in their brochures: community conservancies on the edges of the main parks, birding routes through the Rift Valley, gorilla trekking in Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park. His knowledge of the region’s ecology, combined with a genuine commitment to conservation, makes him the natural lead for clients who want their safari to give back as much as it takes.

Kwezi Safari Driver-guide

Path Finder

Edward Chege

Driver-Guide โ€” Kenya Specialist

Edward Chege has been driving and guiding across Kenya’s national parks and conservancies for years. His particular skill is patience, knowing when to stop, when to wait, and when to reposition. On a game drive, that instinct is the difference between a passing sighting and a twenty-minute encounter with a leopard and her cubs. Edward knows the Masai Mara’s road network, the best dry-season crossings in Amboseli, and which water sources to monitor in Tsavo when the rains fail. He is the kind of guide guests request by name on return trips.

Our responsibility

Our Sustainability Story

Kwezi Safaris acknowledges the significant impact of climate change and commits to environmental sustainability. As a tourism industry leader, we embrace the reality of climate change and actively take action to contribute positively to the environment. We have developed our sustainability policy to guide our operations and our entire supply chain.

These efforts have been recognised by Eco-Tourism Kenya, Evaneos, and Travelife Partner (UK) โ€” a recognition of our commitment towards social and environmental sustainability. We comply with more than 100 criteria related to sustainability management, office operations, working with suppliers, and customer communication. We are at Travelife stage 2 โ€” Partner โ€” and working towards stage 3: Certified.

Zero Tolerance for Single-Use Plastics

Plastic pollution is one of the most pressing environmental issues we face today. At Kwezi Safaris, we are committed to a zero-tolerance policy on single-use plastics โ€” eliminating them from our operations, providing sustainable alternatives for guests and staff, and educating our community about responsible waste management.

Tree-Planting Initiative

Reforestation and afforestation are critical to restoring the balance of our ecosystems. Kwezi Safaris partners with local communities and environmental organisations to promote tree-planting projects, organises regular planting events for staff and guests, and supports the conservation of indigenous forests and the wildlife that depends on them.

Climate Change Mitigation

We understand that climate change poses significant challenges to nature and local communities. Kwezi Safaris is dedicated to operating in a manner that reduces our carbon footprint โ€” implementing eco-friendly practices across all operations, increasing energy efficiency in facilities and transportation, and supporting initiatives that combat climate change. Read our full carbon approach.

Our guides use reusable glass bottles on every safari โ€” a small habit that eliminates hundreds of plastic items per trip.
