Ol Donyo Lodge, tucked into the Chyulu Hills with Kilimanjaro often visible on the horizon, is built specifically around private star-bed rooftops, sleeping under open sky rather than a tent ceiling. Laikipia’s private conservancies offer a similarly intimate scale with the added draw of horseback safaris for couples who want to explore together on horseback rather than from a vehicle. A typical romantic itinerary combines 3 to 4 nights in the bush with 3 to 4 nights on the coast, connected by a single short flight. Shorter trips can focus on one or the other; longer stays can add a second bush destination before the coastal close.
