About Kicheche Bush Camp

Kicheche Bush Camp really is the ultimate bush camp. Fabulously located in a game-rich conservancy, it offers ample wildlife-viewing opportunities. The camp is situated in the Acacia Valley in the Mara North. Because the camps are owned in partnership with Paul Goldstein, both amateur and professional photographers enjoy staying at the camp.

An intimate luxury camp with 6 beautifully decorated tents and a comfortable camp lounge in the exclusive Olare Motorogi Conservancy of the Masai Mara, go for picnics in the bush and discover safari the way it was meant to be.

Tucked away in a beautiful, acacia-lined valley and protected only by a thicket of ancient olive trees, Kicheche Mara Camp is a familiar part of the landscape for passing animals. There are no fences; so creatures like elephants and giraffes feel completely at ease, strolling past within a few paces of the camp itself, on their way to the nearby Olare Orok stream.

Kicheche Bush Camp aims to make as little impact as possible in order to allow wildlife to roam naturally and give guests the opportunity to see them in their natural state. As the camp manager once said, 'If Kicheche Mara was to up and leave, no one would be able to tell that a camp was ever there'.

The Tents

All the tents are named after animals and offer double, twin or triple bed options for maximum flexibility. Whilst tents look directly into the brush, and have no power outlets (there are charging stations in the main tent) or Wi-Fi, they are spacious and fully insect-proof, with en suite bathrooms, a flushing toilet, running cold water and hot safari showers, with solar power provided 24 hours a day. Each tent also has comfortable chairs on its own veranda, perfect to relax in as you admire the great views over the plains.

Meals

Guests typically stay at the camp on a full-board basis. Breakfast is usually packed for morning game drives, lunch is typically served in a buffet style, while dinner is a set menu. All drinks are included except premium wines and spirits. While room service is available, it needs to be requested in advance. Dining takes place communally in the main tent.

Activities

  • Kicheche Bush Camp’s part ownership with Paul Goldstein is evident in the number of wildlife and photography enthusiasts who visit on an annual basis. There is definitely an emphasis on activities that offer spectacular photo opportunities.
  • Game drives with open-sided vehicles are the perfect example of this, with plug socket strips available on trips into the private conservancy to get some amazing snapshots of leopards or giraffes! Interpretative walking tours provide a calmer perspective, with plenty of time for guides to point out the rare local birdlife.
  • Kicheche Bush Camp also offers fly camping, with walking safaris and overnight camping out in the bush – senior guides and an armed ranger are on hand to keep you safe at all times.
  • You can also get to know the area via hot air ballooning, taking off at sunrise and floating over the Maasai Mara. This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, well worth the extra cost!
  • With an emphasis on local community and tradition, guests can also visit Maasai villages, meet local people, hear stories about their way of life, and be treated to traditional dancing and culture. The activities on offer at Kicheche Bush Camp are up there with the very best in Africa!
