The lodge is situated in the Mwiba Wildlife Reserve, a conservation area that focuses on maintaining a balance between wildlife and local communities. This exclusive location is accessible to only a select number of guests, ensuring an uncrowded safari experience within the larger Serengeti ecosystem. The 129,530-acre reserve features lush landscapes supported by 33 freshwater springs, which sustain a diverse range of wildlife. Guests at Mwiba can enjoy a variety of magical experiences, including game drives, bush walks, and cultural excursions to nearby tribal villages.

The interiors have been thoughtfully designed to harmonize with the natural surroundings, featuring a refined palette of textured creams, suede, tans, and accents of chocolate and charcoal. The ten double suites showcase spacious layouts, allowing for a seamless flow between the rooms. Your guide, often recruited from the local tribes understand the Serengeti best and know which roads to travel, and how to track the animals that make these beautiful and vast plains their home.

Mwiba Lodge is an experience for all ages, with a variety of activities to keep everyone entertained. Go on a walk with the Hadzabe hunters where you will gather materials for making bows and arrows to make your own. You will get to take on the challenge of making fire out of nothing more than elephant dung and two sticks. You can also head to a traditional Datoga village and experience how they live. Learn their dances, and share experiences with others from a distinct culture. You can always test your rock climbing capabilities by clambering up the rocks where you will enjoy views for miles and miles.

A unique experience that is offered at Mwiba Lodge is heading out on cultural expeditions. There is the opportunity to spend time with four original tribes, watch as they go about their daily lives. The Mwiba Wildlife Reserve has been serving these communities for years and they often recruit the staff of the lodge from the local tribes. Each tribe welcomes the guests into their lives and create honest and humbling experiences that give a greater insight into the lives of those who live in the Serengeti. The Hadza tribe is one of the last hunter-gatherer tribes in Tanzania. They live a life almost free of possessions and move around easily. The Sukuma tribe are one largest of Tanzania’s ethnic groups. Within this group, you will pay a visit to the Sukuma medicine man and learn his way of life. Learn about the great and fierce warrior tribe, the Datoga where you will learn about their nomadic herding, traditional dressings and music. The Masaai inhabit the north of Tanzania and have a long preserved culture which you will learn all about.
