Kwezi Safaris – Guardians of the Wild

Preserving Africa’s natural heritage by taking action today for tomorrow’s wildlife.

At Kwezi Safaris, conservation is not just a side note—it is deeply woven into our mission, shaping every safari, every partnership, and every guest experience. We believe that the privilege of exploring East Africa’s wild spaces comes with the responsibility of protecting them. That is why we support, both directly and indirectly, a wide network of conservation initiatives across Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, and coastal East Africa.

Restoring Forests & Habitats

At Kwezi Safaris, we believe that every tree planted is a promise to the future. That’s why we proudly support organisations like the Green Belt Movement in Kenya and community reforestation projects in Tanzania’s Usambara Mountains. Together, these kinds of initiatives have planted over 25,000 indigenous trees since 2022, breathing new life into forests, wetlands, and wildlife corridors.

Protecting Giants of the Wild

The great elephant herds of Amboseli, Tsavo, and Tarangire are among East Africa’s most powerful symbols. We stand behind projects such as the Amboseli Elephant Research Project and the Tarangire Elephant Project, which work tirelessly to secure migration routes, reduce human–wildlife conflict, and ensure elephants continue to roam freely for generations to come.

Keeping the Savanna’s Predators Strong

Few sights compare to a lion’s roar at dawn or a cheetah sprinting across the plains. To protect these iconic predators, we support efforts like Lion Guardians in Amboseli, the Mara Predator Conservation Programme, and the Serengeti Cheetah Project. These programs combine research, education, and community partnerships to keep East Africa’s big cats thriving.

Safeguarding Birds & Wetlands

From the flamingo-dotted shores of Lake Natron to the wetlands of the Mara River Basin, birdlife tells the story of East Africa’s rich biodiversity. Through our support of BirdLife International and local wetland rehabilitation projects, we help protect the fragile ecosystems where flamingos, cranes, and hundreds of migratory species flourish.

From Savannahs to Seas

Conservation at Kwezi Safaris doesn’t end on land. Along the coasts of Kenya and Tanzania, we support initiatives like Watamu Turtle Watch, Mafia Island Marine Park, and coral restoration projects in Zanzibar. These programs protect endangered turtles, restore vital coral reefs, and fight threats such as plastic waste and overfishing.

Waste Collection & Recycling

We proudly align with conservation partners leading waste management efforts across East Africa. From beach clean-ups in Diani, Lamu, and Zanzibar to recycling networks turning discarded materials into new opportunities, we lend our support to their incredible work. Guests enjoy plastic-free safaris with us, setting a higher standard for eco-conscious travel.

Primates & Forest Ecosystems

Through partnerships with organisations safeguarding gorillas in Bwindi (Uganda) and Volcanoes (Rwanda), and chimpanzees in Mahale (Tanzania), we contribute to protecting fragile forest ecosystems. Supporting these programs helps preserve biodiversity hotspots where primates—and countless other species—play a vital role in the balance of nature.

Rhino Protection – East African Strongholds

Across East Africa, remarkable initiatives are safeguarding rhinos. In Kenya, conservancies like Ol Pejeta, Solio Game Reserve, Ol Jogi, and others lead the way, from caring for the world’s last northern white rhinos to protecting thriving black and white populations. In Tanzania, Mkomazi National Park is home to a dedicated black rhino sanctuary, restoring numbers in a secure, protected habitat. By supporting these efforts, we contribute to a future where rhinos once again flourish, while local communities benefit through conservation-linked opportunities.

Mangrove Restoration – Kenya & Tanzania Coasts

Across coastal regions like Lamu, Mida Creek, and Zanzibar, conservation groups are restoring vital mangrove forests that shelter marine life, protect shorelines, and store carbon. By backing these initiatives, we help safeguard oceans and fisheries while strengthening local livelihoods and resilience against climate change.

Community Conservancies – Laikipia & Northern Kenya

Community-led conservancies in Laikipia, Samburu, and Northern Rangelands show how people and wildlife can thrive together. By supporting their initiatives, from ranger training to tourism enterprises, we help keep migration corridors open while local communities benefit through jobs, education, and cultural preservation tied to conservation.

River & Wetland Rehabilitation – Mara River Basin

The Mara River is the lifeblood of the Great Migration and countless ecosystems. Conservation partners are restoring riverbanks, wetlands, and catchments to secure this critical resource. We stand with these efforts, ensuring water flows for people, wildlife, and iconic events like the wildebeest crossings.

How You Can Help

When you travel with Kwezi Safaris, you are not just exploring—you are directly contributing to conservation. Guests can join tree-planting initiatives in designated areas, take part in beach clean-ups, or sit down with field ecologists to learn about real-time challenges in wildlife protection. Every booking funds vital conservation projects, ensuring that elephants still roam Amboseli, flamingos dance across Lake Bogoria, turtles return to nest on Mafia Island, and future generations inherit thriving wild spaces.

Together, we are guardians of Africa’s wild places.
