Itinerary

Day 1: Safari starts with a trip to Naivasha

Highlights | Great Rift Valley, Giraffes, Boat Riding, Hell's Gate

Our professional safari driver/guide will pick you up from the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport or hotel in Nairobi and bring you to your safari briefing.  After this short introduction, you will be on your way. From Nairobi, you will enjoy a scenic drive through volcanic mountains and lakes providing breathtaking views of the Kenyan landscape. Picnic lunch will be served inside the park.

Upon arriving at Lake Naivasha National Park you will check into your accommodation. You will have time to relax for the remainder of the afternoon. [Optional: Boat rides to Crescent Island on Lake Naivasha and viewing the hippopotamus.]

You will experience an authentic African dinner in the evening before heading to bed.

Day 2: Spotting Black Rhinos and Flamingos of Lake Nakuru

Highlights | Rift Valley, Rhinos, Giraffes, Mount Longonot, Flamingos

After an early breakfast, you’re off on a morning game drive in Hell’s Gate National Park (within Lake Naivasha). Aside from all the wildlife, Hell’s Gate is famous for its natural geysers, star rock towers, and geothermal steam, which makes it one of the most atmospheric parks in Africa.

After the drive, you will then proceed to Lake Nakuru National Park. Along the way, you will pass Mount Longonot and see beautiful landscapes. There will be a short stop for lunch in Mai Mahiu.

In the evening you will arrive at your accommodations, where you will have time to rest before enjoying another authentic African dinner. After dinner, there will be a bonfire where you can meet other travellers and enjoy stories about your safari adventure.

Day 3: Wildebeest Migration and the Big Five of Maasai Mara

Highlights | Large concentration of wildlife, Big Five, over 400 Bird Species

Today you will begin early. After a full breakfast, it is off for a morning safari game drive. All the animals are out in the morning, searching for breakfast, so it is the perfect time for your drive. The park is famous for its millions of pink flamingos lining the lake shore. In addition, the lake is a central gathering spot for more than 50 mammals.

You will then proceed to Masai Mara National Game Reserve, stopping for a quick lunch along the way.

In the afternoon you will arrive at your accommodations where you will have time to rest before heading out for an evening game drive in Masai Mara National Game Reserve (the jewel of Africa). The Masai Mara is home to the “Big 5” – lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo, and rhinos – along with over 90 other types of animals and over 400 species of birds. The evening is a great time to spot these animals as they are out eating their dinner before it gets dark and they retreat to the safety of their habitat.

After the drive, you will return to your accommodation for an authentic African dinner. After dinner, there will be a bonfire where you can meet other travellers and swap stories about your safari adventure. Then it is off to bed for a good night’s sleep.

Day 4: Full Day in Maasai Mara

Highlights | Wildebeest Migration, Mara River, Crocodiles, Hippos

After breakfast, you will head out for a full-day safari game drive. [Optional: Take a hot air balloon ride over the reserve for your morning game drive. This is a fantastic way to see the animals up close.] On this day you will get to go up to the Mara River to see the crocodiles and hippopotamus. Along other parts of the river, you will see a variety of animals coming to get a drink of water.

During the drive, your guide will introduce you to the lifestyle and behaviours of each animal you see and answer any questions you have. This park offers designated areas where you will be able to enjoy a picnic lunch right out in the open. After lunch, it is time to continue with the safari game drive. [Optional: Visit the Masai Village where you can discover the tribal culture and interact with local people. A glimpse into their homes and social structure is a poignant experience.]

After the drive, you will return to your accommodation for a well-earned rest before enjoying another authentic African dinner. After dinner, there will be a bonfire where you can meet other travellers and swap stories about your safari adventure. Then it is off to bed for a good night’s sleep.

Day 5: Tanzania Awaits

Highlights | Endless plains, a large concentration of wildlife, elephants, dik-dik

Today you will begin early. After a quick hot drink, it is off for a morning safari game drive. All the animals are out in the morning, searching for breakfast, so it is the perfect time for your drive. The abundance of animals at Masai Mara makes it possible for you to see the greatest variety of African wildlife.

After the drive, you will return to your accommodation for a full breakfast before checking out. You will then proceed to the Tanzania border where you will have a quick lunch before continuing on your journey.

Upon arrival at Serengeti National Park, you will check into your accommodations and then head right out for an evening safari game drive. At Serengeti National Park, the landscape is dominated by open woodlands and hills. This is one of the best places to find elephants, giraffes and dik-dik.

Upon returning to your accommodations for dinner there will be a bonfire where you can meet other travellers and swap stories about your safari adventure. Then it is off to bed for a good night’s sleep.

Day 6: Full day exploring vast wildlife in Serengeti

Highlights | Giraffes, Iconic Safari Quarry, Nile Crocodiles, Bio-diverse

After breakfast, you will head out for a full-day safari game drive. One of the many features that make the Serengeti National Park so unique, is that it has been recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site for its biodiversity and ecological significance. This park is also home to numerous Nile crocodiles and honey badgers. During the drive, your guide will introduce you to the lifestyle and behaviours of each animal you see and answer any questions you have. This park offers designated areas where you will be able to enjoy a picnic lunch right out in the open. After lunch, it is time to continue with the safari game drive.

After the drive, you will return to your accommodation for a well-earned rest before enjoying another authentic African dinner. After dinner, there will be a bonfire where you can meet other travellers and swap stories about your safari adventure. Then it is off to bed for a good night’s sleep.

Day 7: Wildlife Haven of Ngorongoro Crater

Highlights | Ngorongoro Crater, Natural Wildlife Haven

After a full breakfast, it is off for a morning game drive for one last adventure at Serengeti National Park. Once again, this park offers designated areas where you will be able to enjoy a picnic lunch right out in the open. After lunch, there will be time for a little more exploring before it is time to head to the next park.

Upon arriving at Ngorongoro Crater National Park you will check in to your accommodation where you will have time to relax before an authentic African dinner. After dinner, there will be a bonfire where you can meet other travellers and swap stories about your safari adventure. Then it is off to bed for a good night’s sleep.

Day 8: After the tree-climbing lions of Lake Manyara

Highlights | Abundance of wildlife,  Tree-climbing Lions, The Great Rift Valley

Today you will begin early. After a full breakfast, it is off for a morning safari game drive at a new park. All the animals are out in the morning, searching for breakfast, so it is the perfect time for your drive. The abundance of animals at Ngorongoro Crater makes it possible for you to see the greatest variety of African wildlife. During the game drive, your guide will introduce you to the lifestyle and behaviours of each animal you see and answer any questions you have. [Optional: Visit the Masai village and discover how this tribe lives in harmony with the animals. See how these people live and participate with them as they share their culture with you.]

This park offers designated areas where you will be able to enjoy a picnic lunch right out in the open. After lunch, the drive continues, allowing you to see the full variety of animals that live in this unique yet beautiful landscape.

After the drive, you will check into your accommodations at Lake Manyara with some time to relax before dinner. After dinner, there will be a bonfire where you can meet other travellers and swap stories about your safari adventure. Then it is off to bed for a good night’s sleep.

Day 9: off to Tarangire

Highlights | Ancient Baobab Trees, Herds of Elephants

You will begin the day with a full breakfast to prepare you for another full-day game drive. At Lake Manyara National Park you will start seeing the wide variety of animals on your safari game drive.  The shores of the lake, lined with pink flamingos, attract more than 400 species of birds. Large herds of buffalo, cheetah, Masai giraffe and impala roam the lake shores and valley slopes.

This park offers designated areas where you will be able to enjoy a picnic lunch right out in the open. After lunch, it is time to continue with the safari game drive. The park is famous for its tree-climbing lions and vast elephant herds so stay on the lookout for these. After the drive, you will head to your next adventure.

Upon arriving at Tarangire National Park you will check in to your accommodation where you will have time to relax before an authentic African dinner. After dinner, there will be free time where you can meet other travellers and swap stories about your safari adventure. Then it is off to bed for a good night’s sleep.

Day 10: Arusha & Homeward Bound

After breakfast, you will go on your last game drive of the trip. Tarangire National Park is a gorgeous reserve celebrated for its millions of ancient baobab trees, creating one of the most dramatic landscapes imaginable. With a permanent water source, the Tarangire National Park is virtually guaranteed enormous herds and excellent game viewing including cheetah, lion (some tree-climbing), leopard and hyena and a herd of 3,500 elephants. The park is also hosseveraler of rare species including eland, oryx, kudu and gerenuk.

Following the drive, you will head back to Arusha you will stop at the town of Karatu for lunch. Our driver will take you back to Kilimanjaro  International Airport.

Note: From July through October you may also see the Great Wildebeest Migration take place in Masai Mara.
