A 3-Day Trek To The Mount Kenya Summit In One Weekend While Appreciating Distinct Flora, Vibrant Birds, And Wildlife Along The Way.

Itinerary

Day 1:

Morning spent sorting and organizing personal equipment for the trek. Drive to Mt. Kenya National Park Gate and have a leisure walk to Met Station (3-4 Hours; 9 km), where we spend the night in the mountain log cabins at an altitude of 3,050m. The afternoon will be spent on a short hike in the area to assist in the acclimatization process.

Day 2: Taleki Valley

Hike up into the Teleki valley where there is a spectacular view of the main peaks. Walking time is approximately 4-6 hours. Overnight at Mackinder’s Camp (4,100m).

Day 3: Final Ascent

The final ascent begins with a pre-dawn start to ensure a successful summit bid and in time for a clear view of the majestic summit scenery at sunrise. After ascending to Pt. Lenana we return to our base camp for breakfast and then proceed down the mountain to Met Station where we will be met for a welcome drive back to the Lodge.

What is included in the tour

  • Personal clothing and equipment
  • Tips and gratuities for guides and porter (recommended to be 10 - 15% of climb costs)
